ABOUT

We are starting a new group, “Family and Friends of St Jude” to help and support the St Jude Common Residents Association (RA) and administration to build an even better St Jude Common.

As a group of family members and friends of residents, we can bring our talents, skills, resources, and networks to help on projects - like the new patio and rejuvenated memorial gardens, to help the RA and administration plan/organize social events, and to help with fundraising or other projects the residents association wants to undertake.

There are no dues to join this auxiliary organization. We hope those who sign up will bring good ideas, volunteer effort and greater support for the work of the RA.

How you Can Help

Not all families live locally. Those at a distance can still participate in periodic zoom meetings at which we plan to share what the residents association is wishing for. Ask to be on the email list and we'll include you in the zooms and...of course you can always contribute a few dollars toward planned projects.

The purpose  of the friends and family group would be to help the Residents Association in conjunction with administration with projects and activities residents would like to get done and to aid in fundraising so additional social activities (for example, an outing for lunch or a visit to an attraction like Mystic) can happen.

Examples of help needed include:

  • Donating plant material for the gardens

  • Helping with spring and fall plantings.

  • Adding your expertise to a grant-writing team that aims to secure funds for projects that are not in the budget but would enhance residents' experience of the community

  • Contributing your skills and expertise to projects on the Residents Association's wish list

  • Bringing your musical talents to SJC to entertain the community

  • Help with fundraising for the residents association

  • Pitching in to solicit donations for the annual basket raffle - which pre-Covid was a highlight for many residents

  • Planning and contributing to trips, cookouts, other fun activities that residents identify as being of value to them

  • Joining with other family members and friends to strengthen the sense of community among residents and all who love them and visit them.

We are open to any and all ideas that you have. Our only mission is to get to know each other, enrich the SJC community, and help make dollars that administration has to maintain and upgrade the facility go further.
